10 Ways To Focus When Following Your Dreams

For The Uninspired Woman: It’s a new start to the year and the relationship you have with yourself is the most important one!  You owe it to yourself to not to give up. Below are 10 useful ways to maintain focused in order to follow your dreams.

1) Create Your Own Path

Don’t try to emulate someone elses journey. For those of you who have chosen to be in the creative industry, often time there is no guaranteed route to success. Some creative professionals never attended university and some did. In order to remain focused enough to follow your dreams it’s crucial that you create your own path  by looking for and creating your own opportunities.

2) Listen To Music That Motivates You

Music has a huge impact on our emotions.

Create a playlist of your favourite motivational songs and be sure to listen them everyday or in times you feel doubtful.

3) Stay Passionate

Indulge yourself in your industry. If you want to be an actress it’s normal to practice monologues, audition and go to acting classes but what about the fun stuff ? Are you really indulging in your industry ?

  • Go to the cinema
  • Watch a play
  • Work on your fitness for future roles
  • Visit an acting studio
  • Go to Network events
  • Get a part time job in the industry
  • Read a book
  • Create a fan club

The aim is to educate yourself in your field whilst having fun.

4) Surround Yourself With Like Minded People

Birds of a feather flock together. I’m sure you don’t want to be around people who constantly make you rethink your passions or don’t understand why you make the decisions you do. It’s not easy to go against the status quo it takes plenty of courage. Whilst your on the path of courage leave the conflicting minds behind.

5) Create a schedule

Create a schedule so you can delegate time to specific tasks. It’s horrible to over work yourself.


6) Attend Networking Events

Networking events arent for everyone in fact sometimes it can be very tedious.

  • Gain confidence when speaking to strangers
  • Connect with people in your industry
  • Collaborate with people in your industry
  • Learn new things
  • Get advice
  • Give advice

7) Sleep well

Sleep deprivation is a dream killer. Going to bed at 4am and then waking up the next day in the middle afternoon is enough to add to anyones anxiety and stress. Treat your passions like a 9-5 wake up early, work hard during the day and relax during the night.

8) Write down your achievements

Write your achievements down so you can see what you’ve done and this should be a motivating factor to make you want to be push even more. Stick it up on the wall, or write it down on your phone. It’s important that you acknowledge your achievements it will remind you that you are on the right track.


9) Reflect

Reflecting on your endeavours is incredibly important for growth. Reflecting helps you develop your skills, helps you review tasks effectively and helps your strategize for improvement. Reflect every 2 weeks.

10) Celebrate

Life is too short not to celebrate you deserve it. Go forth and follow your dreams!
